It's official, support for the version Joomla 1.0 will end on July 22, 2009 as reported recently Wilco Jansen . This will be perceived differently by the millions of users of Joomla but it is a good thing. In any case my opinion as users of Joomla! since its inception.
Maintaining two versions may take considerable proportions. Joomla 1.0 was fantastic and laid the foundations for a formidable community of developers and users, but now he is old and it is not as flexible and customizable that these young cms. Version 1.5 has helped to change the code so extraordinary (languages, overrides, MVC, etc.).. Version 1.6 will give us the granularity and other progress expected for the defunct version 5 of Mambo.
If nine months is enough time for the birth of a baby is also enough time to develop a migration plan. This announcement is a sign for developers and third-party extensions for user base. This is Why I took a little ahead and begin to redevelop some of my components for the Joomla! 1.5 and also create a second site www.alphaplug.com to present them and make them available always free to the community.
Joomla! 1.5 contains a layer of partial-Compatibilte ascending to use third-coded extensions for Joomla! 1.0 (legacy mode). It will not be available in the future version 1.6 that developers of Joomla! working at the moment. It will be replaced by a compatibility layer for 1.5 native extensions.
In short, it is time to get down to 1.5 and promote native extensions!
First referral user points system for Joomla released!

After the success of my AlphaRecommend component for Joomla 1.5 natively (see on www.alphaplug.com ), and following the request of several users, I have decided to fully develop this component for Joomla 1.0.x.
Visual Invite (it's new name for Joomla 1.0) is a component to allows visitors to recommend or invite their friends to visit your website by e-mail.
