TOPIC: comments are not displaying

comments are not displaying 4 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
I have MxComment v1.0.2 installed with Mamblog v1.0 and CB v1.0.2. When you view the community blog listing, articles that have comments all say they have 0 comments. When you click View/Add Comment it just takes you the same article with only the title showing. The content of the article disappears.

The only way to view and add comments on the site to go directly to a member's profile and access the blog entry from there.

I have Mamblog set to use MxComment in it's configuration and set everything for public (guest view).

I'd like both members and guests to be able to view the latest blogs with comments.

Check out what I mean: purplestarmedia.com/authornation

Click on the "Latest Works" link. The sample entry says 0 comments but there are really 2 there. You also can't add comments even when registered.

Now go back to the home page and click on the TheWebChick's profile image to access that entry directly from the profile. All the comments will appear and function as normal.

I would appreciate any ideas on this!

Thanks!
Raca

I figured out somewhat of a work-around. I set the Latest Works link to be Table - Content Category rather than linking it directly to the Mamblog component. Now entries appear as a list of titles and visitors can click through to see the full blog. The comments all appear as well once a particular entry is displayed in full view.

I tried setting up the link to the Mamblog category and section but anytime entries are displayed in Blog format the comments don't work. There must be some snag or setting I've overlooked but I feel I've tried every combo to try and get it working.

This will do for now!

I may have written in haste. The blog entries now all have the author's real name instead of the user name. It's only when you link directly to the Mamblog component that you get the usernames showing up.

So....

I still need a fix for being able to link to the Mamblog component and giving the ability for users to view/add comments from there.

Hi Raca!

I'm having the same problem here. I tried your method of using Table-Content Category. When I click on one of the content item titles, the entries display correctly and visitors can put their comment. But the comment and the content item appear twice. See this http://reisen.infoarchiv.com/content/category/5/14/132/

When you click one of the titles, you will get what I mean. Any idea to solve this?

Post edited by: tangch, at: 2007/08/21 10:35

I wish I could help but I ended up having to uninstall MxComment. Instead of Mamblog, I went with MyBlog. It's a commercial product but it works well with CB so it was worth it.

Hi Raca!

I uninstalled mxComment and resort to AKO Tweaked Edition. With this my problem is solved.

Anyway I have noticed that mxComment will display twice or even thrice if one happens to publish other modules on the page where mxComment is activated. To solve this, just unpublish other modules on that particular page. But this is by no means a perfect solution.

Hi Sami!

Could you please point me to that solution thread? Thanks!
Is it a new post? I looked through the whole forum last week but to no avail.

Look at your module management, and you'll see all installed modules, and their type. Some of them are "custom". Open each of them and do what Bernard said: Unpublish mambot in your custom modules.

Hope this help for you

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I think th eoriginal post was not answered fully

I have the problem as originally reported, not the pgaination/format issues.

First off it shows "View/Add Comments (0)" when in fact there are comments that have been made.

IF YOU ARE NOT LOGGGED IN When you click on "View/Add Comments (0)" link you are taken to a page that shows the title only . Click on the title and you get the full entry.

IF YOU ARE LOGGED IN when you click on "View/Add Comments (0)" you are taken to a page that shows the title and comments only.

I tried different templates, but they are all the same.

the key issue here is that is says there ar no comments so that requires a bug fix, but I assume the page to show comments only page without the content is intentional? I don't think thats a good idea though. I think it would be better to show the full content of the blog entry but maybe skip down to where the comments section starts.....

not sure if a fix is available but if I manage to sor tthis for myself I will post as a "hack"

cheers
