Help instructions? 4 Years, 1 Month ago

Hi
I'm a noob at AC.
I would like to create a movies A to Z like in the demo.
I have created a new menu item and selected alpha content but how do i restrict the "A to Z" to only include the category "reviews" so that only the review articles i submit are displayed, not all of the other articles such as "news" etc?
What is "category ID"? is it a number or the word "reviews"?
Is there any documentation I can read?
Thank you
Paulio

You can find these numbers in Joomla backend -> Content -> Section or Category Manager

thanks for that its almost up and running now.
All I need to know, is why my articles aren't appearing in the directory?
I have 2 articles one called aaaaa and the other called bbbbb.
I have a section "reviews" and a category "action", the articles are in this section and category but they don't appear in the A to Z?
Thanks
Paulio

to make it a little clearer maybe...
If I do an AC menu item, nothing appears under "action" category, BUT if i do a standard Joomla! category list layout the 2 articles appear under "action" just fine?
Cheers

If you have not defined in Alphacontent any category/section ID and all will be listet in frontent so i think you used a wrong ID number

thanks for the reply however i don't think this is the case.
Last night I put some articles in and they didn't appear, overnight they appeared.
I added more articles in and they aren't appearing in the directory although they do appear when I use a standard Joomla menu layout.
So I have:
Reviews (Section)
action (category)
Comedy (category)
There are a number of articles in each section which I can see if I use a Joomla menu, but not if I use an AlphaContent menu?
I'm using RC4 nightly build.
Any help?
Thanks
Paulio

I never used AC with Joomla 1.5 but the component only works with activated legacy mode. You should take a look if your content is published (if you are not sure what i mean, logout and take a look as guest to your website).
If you can not find the error reinstall alphacontent.

Hi Lay
Yes, i might try to reinstall. The funny thing is the content appeared overnight yet again.
This sounds so unlikely but its true! If I post 20 articles today, I can almost guarantee they wont appear until tomorrow - very weird, I can't see how this could possibly happen unless there is some sort of date-checking in the code.
Anyway, for now I can live knowing that my articles will eventually appear... I would be interested to know anyone else is having this issue on RC4!
Cheers
Paulio
